From a part-time assistant to a department manager. Jan Bartl’s story proves that K4 offers remarkable career opportunities.

In 2019, while still a civil engineering student, Jan Bartl worked at K4 as a part-time assistant helping with the surveying and documentation of residential buildings in Brno. A year later, he signed his first full-time contract as a project manager. And just one year after that, he became a department manager, leading five chief project engineers and overseeing the entire team responsible for designing and fitting out Česká spořitelna branches.

There was little missing and Honza didn't join us at all. In the last year of his studies, he completed a 10-week internship with a rival company and everything indicated that he would start there. “I was happy there, but in the end I decided not to accept the offer. Interviews and negotiations were slow on me and I did not receive enough concrete information that I would need for my decision. “

In K4, on the contrary, we knew immediately what potential was dormant in Honza. Although he graduated with a major Construction Realization (R) and so he was more inclined to work in the field, we offered him the vacant position of project manager who spends most of his time in the office or on the phone.

“It was an advantage for me that I graduated in the field of construction realization, because at the very first project I was the chief engineer of the project and, somewhat unexpectedly, the budgeter. So it was good that I knew these things from school.” recalls Honza.

After a year at the company, he led the entire team

Barely had Honza peeked in K4, his the leader and two other colleagues from the team left. There was no more suitable candidate for the vacant position at that moment. “After a year in the company, you suddenly have to lead a team of 5 main project engineers and completely take care of one of our largest clients, with whom the company has been working for over 10 years. Such a chance will only come a few times in a lifetime. “

Today is Honza Key character of K4 and continues to deepen cooperation with Česká spořitelna. “With the team, we design new branches, modernize existing ones, solve fit-outs and interior equipment. We work in accordance with the design standards of the Austrian mother — Erste, but we adapt them sensitively, taking into account the Czech environment and the specific needs of individual branches.”

“I have absolutely no reason to leave”

Honza also appreciates the atmosphere in the company. The bosses always gave him maximum freedom and confidence in decision-making, they have never raised their voice on him, and with many people he is a friend rather than a colleague. “We spend a lot of time together outside of work. We go skiing, play volleyball and hockey, go karting and wakeboards It's not a machine and I really feel that I will meet some people even when we happen to be no longer in K4. “

When asked if he has ever considered or is considering leaving K4, he answers unequivocally. “On LinkedIn, some headhunter will write to me here and there and entice me to get better conditions. But I have absolutely no reason to leave. Working at K4 makes sense to me, we do a great job on projects, we function as a team. When someone has a job or personal difficulties, the rest of the company will take care of them. Add 7 weeks of free time and flexible working hours. There's nothing to deal with for me. At the same time, I admit that my personal life is very connected to work and so it is actually part of my personality. “ concludes Honza.
